Homemade Headboard and another room complete.

There are many DIY tutorials for handmade headboards, but I loved the one that I saw on the Davisvilledesign blog. I couldn’t wait to try it out!!

I used an art canvas, 2inch foam, wool batting, Amy Butler fabric, calico fabric and a staple gun. I didn’t tell Johno I’d bought a staple gun. He worries about my hands and panics whenever I’m using any tools, my sewing machine or knives. It may have something to do with me losing the top of my finger in a childhood accident, or maybe because I managed to sew a machine needle all the way through one finger, or perhaps it’s just because of the multiple burns and incisions that I’ve inflicted on my hands over the years. Anywho, I didn’t tell him I was buying a staple gun. The staple gun was awesome!!

I started by placing the foam on top of the canvas and securing it with the wool batting. This helped create a nice smooth base for the fabric. I may have mentioned before that I love Amy Butler fabric. This one is pretty and Girly without being over the top fussy. I fastened this on over the wool batting and made sure the corners were tucked in neatly.

Finally I attached some calico to the back just to keep it nice and tidy. Ta Da!! All done!! With the headboard all done it means the king single guest room is complete! Yay! 🙂
